ESP

Apologies! It’s been a while since I had shared the air of my blogosphere! It was one of those typical semester-end routines with project presentations and final exams! Well, its summer ahead, so I guess and wish to spend more time and bore you all with those corrigible correspondences!

Recently, I have been sleeping with a beauty! Yes, a book on the origin, history and brilliance of human brain, by an unknown author. Is there anything in this world that can overpower human brain?! May be or may be not. Anyways, thinking of its abilities led me to one of my old favorite brain abnormalities or rather specialties – Extra Sensory Perception (ESP). How I wish I had the ability see my shadow before it appears? ESP is one of the few peculiarities of human brain that can be both greatly exciting as well as extremely onerous!

Well, our initial knowledge on this phenomenon is through celluloidal inferences from “Iyer the great” and its likes! But to understand what lies beneath, one need to get in to the root level and do some serious reading! I tried that and unfortunately the little knowledge that I thought I possessed in this area is scattered like the Indians in the USofA and hence I will leave it for you to read and comprehend!

Answers.com defines ESP as the “knowledge or perception without the use of any of the five senses. ESP includes clairvoyance (knowledge about some distant object or event, such as an unreported accident), telepathy (reading another's thoughts or sending one's own to another), and precognition (predicting the future)” It also claims that, as for the individual powers, it is important to scientifically verify those through various procedures before including them in to ESP phenomenon. Many people are skeptical about ESP and related states like telepathy, mind reading, clairvoyance etc. Some of us think that these phenomena are typical examples of how nature takes us towards the path of reality and show how far our fundamental physical laws and its assumptions are away from truth! There are several websites that exemplifies the phenomenon through various incidents. There are several incidents that are listed based on the Swami Vivekananda’s narration of experiences with his beloved Guru! Exciting to read!

But all these seem to be unreachable, incomprehensible and unacceptable to a common man. A common man wouldn’t believe any phenomenon until he experiences it or even visualizes it. As far as am concerned, I have never seen anyone with a peculiarity like ESP. May be, some of the astrologers who claim to know our futures based on sun/moon/star/face signs are typical examples of such people or may be just mummers. On the whole, the concept of ESP is exciting because it defies the fundamental and underlying assumptions in the physical laws that are supposedly explaining the life and the life ahead in this planet! Anything that defies the laws that we think are nature is exciting! But when it is not a common phenomenon, it’s hard to appreciate it! Whenever we are in to an argument or a discussion on the existence of supreme power, we fall back to the scientifically unexplainable and expect an answer for that! Considering the fact that the creation itself was once (may be even now) unexplainable, delivers a fact that there is whole lot that's left to be conquered!
